ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Growing up in the province of British Columbia, I naturally appreciate its beauty. The mountains, valleys, lakes, forests, and most recently, its beaches and oceans. No matter the season, whether by foot, paddle or ski, I feel closer to myself when outside in nature, sheltered from the trappings of our colonial society. Now that I have moved to Vancouver Island, I am committing to learning more about the history by actively listening to its original inhabitants, the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples on whose traditional territories I am living and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSANEC peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. #LANDBACK
